Giving thanks to...
I would like to start off by giving thanks to all the PARENTS. If it wasn't for your perseverance, humanity and trust in me for teaching your children, my life would have been very different. Since there is no "I" in TEAM, the determination and volunteer help impel us to grow the "Merrillville Youth Basketball Club," a sport program, for the children within our community. I can't believe it been fourteen years and with 162 students (and still counting) these amazing leaders grew with the help of mentoring, empowerment and humanity.
Without you, there would definitely be no "Coach Tony".
I've been blessed to help other sport programs duplicate my concept of discipline through sports. Most importantly, I'm proud to have many of my students bring home endless of college degrees throughout the years since many girls don't take full advantage of "Title Nine" in sports, which help young ladies go off to college like the young men do.
To my YOUNG LADIES, you are magnificent in many ways. You hold "value" because you stay focus, respect yourself, and are disciplined. Only then you will be destined for greatness. I am behind you 100% and like I always said, "If you need me I'm here".
And finally, to my MOM (RIP)... Thanks for putting up with all of my unconventional and idiosyncratic ways as a child. Learning from you, I put that towards my coaching. I taught them how to manage their time while watching you raise three of us. In doing so, my young athletes could participate in sports activities, work, go to school, complete homework and/or have long-standing relationships because they were diligent. I figured out a long time ago what you've been telling me all along. Now I know my young ladies can do a lot more than becoming cheerleaders; they are SUPERSTARS on the courts, as well as, in the classroom.
